Terms of use

World in Motion at globeinmotion.com (“the site”) is a free, non-commercial collection of interactive instruments kept by Adam. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

You may use the site freely, link to it, and share screenshots with credit to “World in Motion, globeinmotion.com”. The site’s own code is open source under the MIT licence, and its source is on GitHub. Third-party material keeps its own licence (below).

Please do not misuse the site, for example by overloading it or the outside services it uses with automated requests.

Disclaimer

The site was built with the help of AI tools. Its code, texts, summaries and data were assembled and checked with care, but they may still contain mistakes, so please verify anything important against reliable sources and do your own research.

The site is offered for general interest and education only. Maps, borders, dates, names, sky positions, eclipse paths, weather, air quality, earthquake, satellite and other data may be incomplete, approximate, delayed or wrong, and outside services may change or stop without notice.

• Not for important decisions. Do not rely on the site for navigation, safety, health, emergency, travel, legal, financial or any other decision that matters. Use official sources, such as your national weather service and civil-protection authorities.
• History is approximate. Historical borders, names, dates, routes and events are simplified reconstructions from the sources credited. Historians disagree about many of them. Showing them expresses no opinion on the legal status of any country, territory, city or people, or on any present-day border or claim, and is not an endorsement of any state, ruler, belief or event.
• Outside content. Data, imagery and links from other providers belong to those providers and are shown under their terms. Links to other sites are given for convenience; we do not control and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Adam shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or other loss or damage, including loss of data, arising from or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the site or any content or service reached through it. You use the site at your own risk.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

Privacy

No accounts, analytics, ads or tracking, and no cookies of our own. Some instruments remember your own settings in your browser’s local storage, on your device only. Your location is used only when you press a location button. What each instrument requests from outside services, and what is sent, is listed in the ledger on the front page. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which, like any web host, receives your IP address to deliver the pages and may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from abuse: see the Cloudflare privacy policy and Cloudflare cookies.

Third-party licences and credits

The site uses open data, imagery, software and fonts from others, each under its own licence. Each instrument also credits its sources on its own About or credits panel. Full notices and licence texts:

NASA imagery and data are not subject to copyright in the United States; NASA is acknowledged as their source. If you believe something on the site infringes your rights or is credited wrongly, please open an issue on GitHub and it will be corrected or removed promptly.

“Pomodoro” is a registered trademark of Francesco Cirillo. The Pomodoro Timer here is a simple focus timer and is not affiliated with or endorsed by him. Other names and marks mentioned on the site belong to their owners and are used only to identify them.
